Visit as well the adjacent Grand Palace, built in the 18th and 19th century as the residence for the former kings of the Chakri dynasty.

This trip by long-tailed boat through the canals of Thonburi offers views of typical riverine life, which once characterized all of Bangkok as the “Venice of the East”. Cruise up the Chao Phya River to stop at Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn, before branching off into several narrow canals flanked by coconut plantations, fruit orchards, vegetable gardens, old temples and rural houses on stilts.

Bangkok’s Chinatown is a colourful area with a unique character and a mishmash of bustling markets. Stop at Wat Trimitr, or Golden Buddha Temple, and the revered Chinese temple Wat Leng Noei Yee. Explore the narrow and twisted lanes by foot and be dazzled with exotic sights, sounds and smells while discovering traditional noodle shops, herb and medicine sellers and gold shops. The tour finishes off with a light Chinese Dim Sum lunch.

An authentic Thai-style house built by Jim Thompson, the famous American who revived the Thai silk industry after WW II, before disappearing mysteriously in the Malaysian jungle. The traditional house today is home to one of the most tasteful collection of Thai Art.

A full-day introduction tour to the city. Start with an early morning stroll through the Flower market. Afterwards visit Wat Po, or Reclining Buddha Temple, home to the country’s first school for Ancient Thai Massage, and the most famous attraction of Bangkok, the impressive Emerald Buddha Temple, or Wat Phra Keo. Take advantage of a 1-Day Thai cooking course at a typical Thai teakwood house. The house is approx. 22kms outside of Bangkok, amidst colourful gardens and tropical fruit trees. During the cooking lessons you will discover how to blend herbs and spices, learn new skills and authentic recipes. Lessons are conducted in English and include brief lectures, preparation of ingredients, hands-on demonstrations and the enjoyment of sampling your own dishes.
Floating Market & Rose Garden Thai Village Show Daily 07.15-17.00 incl. lunch
Early morning drive to Damnern Saduak, site of Thailand’s largest and most colourful floating market. Here women in stray hats paddle their wooden boats laden with fruits, vegetables and flowers. Continue to Nakhon Pathom to see the world’s tallest Buddhist pagoda and on to the famous Rose Garden. After lunch, a traditional show of Thai sports and folk dancing, wedding ceremonies and elephants at work is presented at the resort’s Cultural Village.
Early morning drive to Samut Songkram. Begin ride on village roads, pass tropical fruit orchards and coconut plantations, temples and farmer villages to reach Damnern Saduak, site of Thailand’s largest and most colourful floating market. Stroll over the market before continue biking to a riverside restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon take a boat trip to explore rural riverside life and visit a local museum. Return to Bangkok by van/coach.
Ayutthaya (by bus & boat) Daily 07.30-17.30 incl. lunch
Leave Bangkok by coach to Ayutthaya where magnificent ruins and Buddha images attest to the lost glory of this former capital. Continue to Bang-Pa-In, site of the former Royal Summer Palace displaying a wondrous mix of European and Oriental architecture. For the return journey, join a leisurely cruise on board the Shangri La’s luxurious “Horizon” boat. A sumptuous buffet lunch is served on board while you cruise downstream back to Bangkok.

En route stop at the colourful Floating Market of Damnern Saduak before reaching Kanchanaburi.
