Although drastically different from Cancun in layout and design, Los Cabos is quickly catching up to that Caribbean resort destination in terms of the diversity of its hotels.

Although most Los Cabos resorts remain upscale, the range of accommodations has grown significantly in the past few years and will continue to expand, offering everything from all-suite hotels (some with private plunge pools) to boutique properties and basic one-room resorts.

To accommodate the extensive hotel development, Los Cabos airport will be rewamped by September. An additional gate position will bring the number of gates to six, while the runway will be lengthened, allowing for larger aircrafts and more flights into Las Cabos.

Melia Los Cabos, which opened  its door to guests on the Cabo Real resort development on April 15, 1998, represents Melia‘s third build in Los Cabos, and perhaps one of the hotel chain’s most eye-catching, distinct resorts in Mexico to date. Painted in brilliant yellow topped with clay-tiled roofs, the exterior of this grand property resembles a mansion. From the ocean, the reverse side of the all-suite hotel is a horseshoe arrangement, allowing a view of the water from every room. Open-air lobbies provide refreshing ocean breezes.
