The Lucayan, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas
Now Westin/Sheraton

Warm sun dancing on turquoise waters, pristine white sand beaches as far as the eye can see, palm trees swaying in gentle ocean breezes and friendly Bahamians eager to share the secrets of their island -- you'll find all that and so much more on Grand Bahama Island, home of The Lucayan.
Nestled on 7-1/2 acres of pristine white sand beaches, this resort is home to a multitude of activities and is close to all the amenities that Grand Bahama Island has to offer. By day, sun and water activities abound -- enjoy a round of golf on our 18-hole championship golf course designed by Dick Wilson, relax by our dramatic Sugar Mill pool, snorkel through the island's beautiful coral gardens, visit the world-famous Garden of the Groves, explore underground caverns or shop at the Port Lucaya Marketplace. Your children even have their own special getaway in Camp Lucaya, an interactive children's center. And, within walking distance from The Lucayan, you can swim with the dolphins! By night, the island takes on a distinctly more festive air, as Billy Joe invites guests to attend a fish fry on the beach and view a golden sunset.

This luxury resort offers a utopia for one of the most beloved of leisure sports: golf. The Lucayan Country Club, recently named one of the Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World by The Golfer magazine, has long been known for its lush 18-hole championship golf course originally designed by Dick Wilson in 1962. This course has been named "Number One in The Bahamas" by Golfweek magazine, and has hosted such prestigious tournaments as The Bahamas National Amateur Golf Championships. And, coming this summer, we'll be raising the bar with the newly constructed Lucayan Reef Golf Course, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Scenic lakes come into play on 13 of the 18 holes, and this par-72 course will offer breathtaking views and a new challenge to golfers, with devilish water off the back tees.
After you've worked up an appetite on our greens and fairways, you can refuel at our dinner tables. Enjoy a light meal and a cool drink at the Sugar Mill Bar & Grill, where you can dine by our beautiful pool; get down to the oldies at Barracuda's, a '50s-style American diner with a Bahamian twist; and savor a culinary rendezvous at The Arawak Dining Room, where fine dining and a spectacular view of the golf course await. And now, The Lucayan offers even more variety with our exciting new Prop Club. With activities like these, you'll be tempted to come back again and again and again . . .
Kids Club
This imaginative and fun-filled children's center occupies its own free-standing building, and offers children everything from traditional arts & crafts to a unique marine education program developed by The Lucayan in cooperation with The Underwater Explorers Society (UNEXSO).
The Lucayan is dedicated to making
sure that your kids have the time of their lives when you and your family stay
with us. That's why we've created Camp Lucaya, our children's interactive center
for infants through 12-year-olds. With 3,000 square feet of brightly painted
space dedicated just to the children, Camp Lucaya provides a fun and safe place
for
our youngest guests to enjoy the resort and the island. Activities vary daily,
and include crafts, pool activities, dolphin experiences, field trips (such as
horseback riding excursions, kayaking and visits to The Lucayan Caves!),
educational sessions about Grand Bahama Island and more, including special
holiday programs. The camp supervisors are all certified lifeguards with CPR and
first-aid certifications. Camp Lucaya also provides a separate, quiet nursery
for our littlest campers.
The Lucayan realizes it's important for the children to carry a piece of us and Grand Bahama Island away with them, whether it's a braid in their hair, a picture they've painted or simply the wonderful memories of a day spent doing what kids do best: being themselves.
Dolphin Experience
Grand Bahama Island can take your
breath away with its sandy beaches, exquisite shopping and breathtaking views,
but you can also experience a more personal interaction with nature -- swimming
with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. The Dolphin Experience provides guests
of The Lucayan with an opportunity of a lifetime. You can choose to swim with
the dolphins, participate in the assistant dolphin trainer program, or have an
up close and personal encounter with these fascinating and gentle creatures.
