Petit St. Vincent, Petit St. Vincent Island, Grenadines
Island is a romantic word in any
language. Almost everyone has dreamed of getting off to an island
hideaway. But most of us never will do it, and with good reason. Genuine
hideaways, with all the advantages of remoteness, usually also have all
the disadvantages of remoteness: they are hard to reach and they lack the
services and amenities necessary for sustained tranquility. And non-genuine
hideaways - with jet aiports, planned activities and urban night life -
tend to reproduce the very frenzy you're trying to escape.
Petit St. Vincent is different. This 113-acre, privately-owned island is the
resort. Nothing else is here. Almost totally surrounded by white sandy beaches,
the island abounds with natural beauty and offers the serenity in which to
enjoy it. We provide personal, attentive service and good food and drink -
the comforts of civility without the discomforts of urban civilization.
Petit St. Vincent lies 40 miles
south of St. Vincent in the Caribbean chain of islands caled The Grenadines.
Over its varied terrain 22 private cottages are scattered - some on hillsides,
some set into the sides of cliffs, some right on the beach. All locations offer
spectacular views, privacy, and proximity to beaches and facilities.
Solidly built of native Bluebith stone quarried from the island itself, each
cottage has a living room, a bedroom, a dressing room, bathroom and private
patio.
Meals are served in the main pavilion, looking out on the harbor. But most
guests like to take breakfast and afternoon tea in their cottage. To have any
meals served in your cottage, or on the beach for that matter, you need only let
room service know. Not by calling them; there are no telephones in the
cottages. But there are bamboo flagpoles outside them. When you want something,
you simply raise your yellow flag. The room service patrol sights it and brings
whatever you want When you want nothing so much as to be alone, you send up the
red flag. It's a simple system, but one of the features guests remember most
warmly.
The guests prize resort's small sailing fleet, lighted tennis court, and the
variety of snorkeling opportunities along the island's sandy perimeter. They
also appreciate Petit St. Vincent for what it does not have. No casino. No
nightclub. And no program of activities for you to fit your visit into. Instead,
this private island becomes your private island, to enjoy as you wish. Lovely
and secluded, it lies off the route of cruise ships but on the cruising path of
chartered yachts. So there is as much company as you want, but never any
more than that. (Except perhaps Labrador retrievers, who tend to visit
guests who encourage them.)
Is Petit St. Vincent for everyone? No. But it's for more people than you might
think. The guests are not "loners". Just people who like themselves and each
other, and the beauty of nature unspoiled but accessible. And they keep coming
back. You will too.
Petit St. Vincent. A private island for private people...
Enjoying your yacht's comfort - cushions, cool drinks, snacks, good music, or
...stepping-out on an uninhabited sandbar where you have only the cool trade
winds, crystal clear water, and each other ...
If you are looking for the ultimate in privacy and seclusion, Petit St. Vincent
is your ticket. Twenty-two private and secluded cottages insure an experience
like being lost on a deserted island. Except, of course, that you can
raise your flag when you would like room service, or request sports
equipment and have it waiting on your beach when you awake. This is luxury and
pampering all wrapped up in a Caribbean Island.
