Athens exudes a unique charm, its lively character winning over tens of thousands of visitors every year. Street markets, vine-covered tavernas, souvenir stalls and ancient monuments all form a conglomerate its buildings old and new in this city, which one out of four Greeks call home. For tourists the greatest advantage is that most attractions are accessible on foot in the central area around the landmark Acropolis.

9:00am , Meet your Guide outside the Piraeus Customs House and start your tour.

On to enjoy a tour of Athens, combining many of the cities principal modern and classical sights. This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). See the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings and elegant homes. Continue along Panepistimiou Avenue and see the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square. Pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus and emperor Hadrian’s Arch, then onto the famed Acropolis of Athens, with its many monuments atop its rocky base: The awesome Parthenon, the Propylae, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens. We also visit the Acropolis Museum. After the descent for the Acropolis hill, drive to the impressive National Archaeological Museum of Athens (10 minutes drive), containing exquisite unique sculptures, paintings and artifacts, dating from the very early days of the ancient Greek civilization.

13:00 hrs: Time for a well deserved lunch! Drive along the scenic coastal road, heading to the southern suburb of Vouliagmeni (approx. 30 minutes). There, you will enjoy a lovely meal at the sea-front ‘Moorings’ Restaurant, situated at the marina, by the sparkling bay of Vouliagmeni.
