Cruise Excursion from Constanta Port

Flavors of Constanta 4.5 hours

Description

For a delightful culinary experience, including a cooking demonstration hosted by a talented chef and a taste of authentic Romanian dishes, we invite you to join this engaging excursion.

This tour will provide you with an introduction to Romania's second largest city and will offer a visit to its major points of interest. On the site where Constanta is located today, there was a settlement founded by Greek navigators and merchants more than 2,500 years ago. In the middle of the 1st century A.D., the territories between Istros, the Greek name of Danube, and the Black Sea became a Romanian province where the city fortress named Tomis was raised at the location of the Greek settlement. But the Avars devastated the flourishing fortress in 601. Some centuries later the ruins of Tomis became today's Constanta.

Your tour continues following a short drive to the Folk Art Museum, which displays over 16000 ethnographic exhibits from all the Romanian regions. You will see the interiors of typical peasant's home, household goods made of wooden and metal, various furniture items and items used for religious ceremonies, a wonderful ceramics collection and the valuable collection of icons on glass. The most impressive collection is the colorful festive folk costumes from all over the country displayed in four halls. You will be given the opportunity to buy traditional Romanian handicrafts in the museum's shop.

Acquainted with the culture of Romania, savor a taste of its cuisine as you travel to a local restaurant specially selected for your culinary experience. During an enlightening cooking demonstration, you will be invited to participate in preparing “sarmale cu mamaliguta,” a Romanian dish made with minced pork, spices, pickled cabbage leaves and corn flour boiled in water with a dab of butter.

After your expert instruction, lunch will be served. The chef who led the demonstration will join you and answer any questions you may have about Romanian cuisine.

Next enjoy time at leisure in the center of  Mamaia resort, the main summer resort in Romania.
