The ideal way, to explore the heart of Crete is by walking on coastal paths, ascending the highest peaks and crossing spectacular gorges. Each season gives magnificent colours and interests. We guide you off the beaten paths, in Crete’s rich flora and fauna and on mountainous villages to meet the "authentic" Cretans and our traditions.

Itinerary

In the morning, the clients will meet their guide (licensed for the archaeological sites) at hotel or at the pier, and be transferred to Knossos, to enjoy the magnificent archaeological area holding remains of a Minoan city that thrived 3500 years ago and the famous palace dated 1700-1450 B.C., excavated by Sir Arthur Evans at the beginning of this century. After Knossos continue to Lassithi Plateau for a hiking excursion on Mountain Karfi.

Mountain Karfi

Starting from the village of Tzermiado, we shall hike to the summit of Karfi at the altitude of 1148m, which offers spectacular view to the largest plateau of Crete - Lassithi plateau and the north coast. We shall explore the Minoan settlement located at the summit and will descend to the small and beautiful “Nissimos” valley and the village of Tzermiado at Lassithi plateau. At Lassithi plateau, if the time allows we shall have the chance to experience a small journey through mythology by visiting Zeus birthplace - the cave of Dictaion Andro.  (Total estimating walking time: 3 – 3½ hours)
