For all these museums tours, you do not need a transport. Your guide can pick you up at your hotel and bring you back at your hotel , or you can also meet your guide in front of the museum to save time. You can also cumulate a museum tour to a city tour of Paris in one day.

Private museums tours are for 4 hours tour and up to 30 persons per group.

As far as museum entrance tickets, if you are in Paris for a few days, and wish to visit a few museums, we can buy museums passes for you also in advance good for one day, or 3, 5 days. Most museums in Paris are closed on Mondays, except the Louvre which is closed on Tuesdays.

THE LOUVRE MUSEUM: probably one of the most fascinating museum in the Louvre, it is a "must see" in Paris for the first time visitor. Originally a medieval fortress built by Philippe August in the XIIth. century, the LOuvre became the Palace of many kings with the king François 1er in 1546. It was transformed later into a museum. The Louvre visit can be tiring, in one day you will not see half of it! So we recommend that you select in advance the collections you prefer to visit to save you time.

You must see the Mona lisa , the Venus de MILO , but please note that most impressionism paintings are not in the LOUVRE, they are at the Orsay museum. The Louvre has mostly paintings up to the XVIIIth. century.

THE ORSAY MUSEUM: another "must see " in Paris for museum. The most famous French Impresisionists paintings are in this museum , you will discover the famous paintings of Renoir, Monet, Degas, Manet. This museum is very original , built in an ancient train station of Paris.

MUSEE RODIN: The Government acquired the Hôtel Biron in 1905 and Rodin rented the ground floor from 1908 onwards. From that moment, the sculptor, backed by his closest friends, was determined to turn the Hôtel Biron into a museum devoted to his works. It was only in 1916, through three successive donations, that Rodin handed over to the Government all his collections and personal archives, his property in Meudon and, even more important, his works, both sculptures and drawings, accompanied by reproduction rights.

The museum opened its doors to the public on 4 August 1919. At present, it houses marble, bronze, plaster, wax and terracotta sculptures, ceramics, paintings, drawings, and works by other artists (Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh) from his personal collection.

MUSEE du MOYEN AGE CLUNY: The Musée National du Moyen-Age Thermes de Cluny is comprised of two important sites. One is a 15th century Gothic mansion containing a wide selection of medieval art, as well as a collection of original sculptures from the facade of Notre Dame. Next to the mansion are 3rd century Gallic-Roman baths, including a ``Frigidarium'' (cold room).

Musée national Gustave Moreau: Drawings, paintings, water-colours and sculptures by G. Moreau (1826-1898) in the workshop he built around his house.

Musée de la Mode et du Costume de la Ville de Paris: fashion museum through the ages. French fashion and costume from the eighteenth century to the present day, etchings, engravings, fashion photographs presented in the Palais Galliéra, whose architecture is inspired by the Italian Renaissance. Specialised library (by appointment). Children's workshops. Thematic exhibitions.

THE HOUSE of BALZAC: The only house of the many in which Balzac lived which is still standing. Honoré de Balzac (1799 - 1850) was one of the great French writers. He is probably most well known for his La Comédie Humaine - a collection of stories, may of which are set in Paris.

MUSEE BOURDELLE: Scupltures of Anoine Bourdelle.

MUSEE CARNAVALET: The history of Paris from its origins to the present day in two historical mansions: the Hôtel Carnavalet, the home of Madame de Sévigné from 1677 to 1696 and the Hôtel le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau. The Hôtel Carnavalet is dedicated to prehistory to the eighteenth century.

The Hôtel le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau presents the period ranging from the Revolution to the present day. Etchings room. Collection of objets d'art, paintings, drawings and models.

THE CATACOMBS OF PARIS: The underground world of Paris. Bones from the old cemeteries of Paris, namely the cemetery of the Innocents. Ossuaries in the hollowed out spaces of the former stone quarries.

MUSEE EUGENE DELACROIX: Last apartment and studio occupied by Delacroix from 1857 to 1863.Personal memorabilia and works of the artist.Renovation work is scheduled in 1995.

THE SEWERS OF PARIS: Five hundred metres into the sewers of Paris to trace their history and that of Lutecia to the present day. An original way of exploring Paris, an exhibition area presenting the water cycle in Paris and its history. Several models and machinery used yesterday and today. Audio-visual show, exhibition room on the techniques of the future.

SALVADOR DALI COLLECTION: In the heart of Montmartre, a stone's throw away from the place du Tertre, the phantasmagorical world of Salvador Dali seen through a collection of sculptures and illustrations unique in the world.

INVALIDES MUSEUMS: Les Invalides comprises the largest single collection/complex of monuments in Paris, including:

* Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération
* L'Eglise de St-Louis-des-Invalides

The tomb of Napoleon the first is also there to view.

Musée Nissim de Camondo: Reconstruction of an eighteenth century aristocratic home. This museum presents an exceptional range of furniture, paintings, rugs, porcelain and goldplate arranged in a mansion on the edge of the Parc Monceau. This home and its collections were bequeathed to France in 1935 by Comte Moïse de Camondo in memory of his son Nissim, who died in combat in 1917.

Musée National Picasso: The Musée Picasso is situated in the heart of historic Paris, and has a collection of several thousand works of Pablo Picasso. Picasso was born in 1881 and he began to study art in 1895. During his life he created diverse works: painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, engraving, and even poetry. After his death in 1973, many of Picasso's works went to the French state, which decided to form a museum with the collection.

MUSEE de la POUPEE: Just for the children. Permanent exhibition of a collection of French dolls and babies from 1860 to 1960 presented in showcases that recreate past games. Temporary exhibitions on the doll and toy theme. Lectures on the history of dolls.
