Sinop Port Excursion

Long used as a Hittite port which appears in Hittite sources as "Sinuwa", Sinop was founded as a Greek colony from the city of Miletus in the 7th century BC.It remained with the Empire of the East or the Byzantines. It was a part of the Empire of Trebizond from the sacking of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusade in 1204 until the capture of the city by the Seljuk Turks of Rum in 1214. In 1301, Sinop became an independent emirate following the fall of the Seljuks. It was captured by the Ottomans in 1458.
In November 1853, at the start of the Crimean War, in the Battle of Sinop, the Russians, under the command of admiral Nakhimov, destroyed an Ottoman frigate squadron in Sinop, leading Britain and France to declare war on Russia.Our Panoramic tour begins from the pier. We will visit Sinop City Walls
as our first stop. City Walls surrounds the city for more than 10 square
kilometer. Proceed to the Citadels of the city,which was built in 2000 BC by
Gaskals and used by Greeks,Pontus, Byzantines, Seljuk’s and Ottomans. The Prison
was built in 1214 by Seljuks. Follow to Sinop Museum which has the largest
collection of the region. Sinop Museum has ethnographic icons and pieces from
Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantium Period.
Reboarding the motorcoach, we take a drive to Akliman and Hamsilos Fiords as our last stop. These two fiords are wonders of the nature which you can find precious sea animals and plants, fossils and seashells.
After the last visit of the day, the tour will terminate at the pier
after a short drive back.
