Kulkulcan Pyramid at Chichen Itza

Day Four: Celestun and Merida
A leisurely drive and a delightful boat cruise permit viewing of the pink flamingos and other species of wildlife in the Celestun Biosphere Reserve. After lunch on the shore of the lagoon, tour the parks, avenues, Spanish missions and architecture of the glorious city of Merida. Overnight in Merida.

Day Five: Dzbilchaltun, Chichanchob, Izamal and Cancun
The significance of Dzibichaltun is its stucco sculptures and ceramics from all Maya periods. Excavations here document continuous occupation from about 650 B.C. Explore the Temple of the Seven Dolls and other structures. After touring the seafront town of Progreso, enjoy lunch in Chicxulub in a cozy restaurant with a view of the inviting beach. At Izamal tour the huge convent that was built over a Mayan temple in 1561. See more of the Yucatan as you return to Cancun for Farewell Dinner and overnight.

Day Six: Departure
Depending on departure schedules, there may be time to stroll near the water's edge or browse in Cancun's excellent shops.

Day One: Valladolid
Arrive Cancun or Merida. Airport greeting and transfer to the colonial town of Valladolid in the center of Yucatan - 99 miles from Cancun, 99 miles from Merida, but close to Chichen Itza. Colonial-era churches and hotels surround the town's traditional tree lined central plaza. Welcome Dinner and reception at your hotel.

Day Two: Dzitnup, Chichen Itza and Uxmal
Visit Dzitnup, an underground wonder of the Yucatan's natural hydraulic system. Tour the Mayan legacy of Chichen Itza with its impressive 82 foot tall Temple of Kukulcan, known as El Castillo. You will see the largest and best-preserved ball court in Mesoamerica, Temple of the Warriors, Sacred Cenote, Observatory and Court of the Thousand Columns.Evening drive to Uxmal for dinner and the Uxmal Light and Sound Spectacle. Overnight at Uxmal.

Day Three: Uxmal, Kabah, Labna and Merida
Morning tour of Uxmal's magnificent ornate Puuc style ruins. The 100 foot tall Pyramid of the Magician appears to be oval but is more rectangular with rounded corners. See the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Governor's Palace and the stunning carved stones of the House of Doves. On the way to Merida visit the sites of Kabah, Labna, Mayapan and the village of Oxhutzkab with its colorful fruit market. Overnight in Merida.
