NILE CRUISE to LUXOR–EDFU–KOM OMBO-ASWAN, ABU SIMBEL, CAIRO - ALEXANDRIA

Day 1: ARRIVAL CAIRO – Fly to
LUXOR – Board the NILE CRUISER
Upon arrival at the Cairo international airport, meet with our
representative for the Visa arrangements, and for assistance to board your
connecting flight to Luxor. On arrival, board your awaiting motor coach and
transfer to your Nile Cruiser- your „floating hotel‟ for 4 nights, by the banks
of the mighty Nile. Check-in at your comfortable cabin and get familiar with
this beautifully appointed vessel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: On CRUISE- Luxor sightseeing
Morning free. Optional visit to Luxor‟s outstanding Museum. After Lunch
onboard, enjoy your visit to the world famous Temples of Karnak and Luxor, to
admire the very best of ancient Egyptian architecture and mystique. Return to
the ship for Dinner and overnight. Ship remains docked at Luxor.
Day 3: On CRUISE- Luxor, Esna,
Edfu In the morning, drive across the river to the „West bank‟. First stop is at
the two huge statues, known as the „Colossi of Memnon‟. Next comes the vast
Necropolis of Thebes- the Valley of Kings and Queens, which is the famed secret
burial ground for dozens of Pharaoes who had ruled the land. Here you will visit
3 of the sacred tombs. Short drive to see the Queen Hatchepsut‟s elegant
restored temple, then onto the ship for Lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the
unique spectacle as the ship is sailing along the fertile banks of the Nile.
Reach the town of Esna, pass the locks, and onto Edfu. Dinner and overnight.
Ship remains docked at Edfu.
Day 4: On CRUISE- Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan
Morning visit to the very well preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu. Return to
the ship and sail towards Kom Ombo. Lunch onboard. At Kom Ombo visit the unique
Temple dedicated to gods Sobek and Haroeris. Return to the ship and sail.
Evening arrival at Aswan. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: ASWAN (ABU SIMBEL) – CAIRO Disembarkation after breakfast and
drive to see Aswan‟s impressive „High Dam‟, generating enough electricity to
cover the country‟s multiplying needs. Later, embark a „felucca‟ (local
sailboat), which will take you to the well preserved and restored Temple of
Philae, ideally situated by the banks of the Nile. After completion of the
visit, either transfer to the Aswan airport for the flight to Cairo, OR take the
optional tour to Abu Simbel, (by short flight), to admire the famed Temple of
Ramses II with its huge statues, right by the vast Lake Nasser. Then fly to
Cairo via Aswan. Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met by our
representative and transferred to the hotel for check-in, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: CAIRO sightseeing Morning drive to the plateau of Giza, site of the many
Pyramids built for the mighty Pharaohs and their families, including the
magnificent Great Pyramids of Cheops, and Khephren and Mycerinos. Nearby stands
the awesome statue of the Sphinx. In addition to spending time to view these
magnificent structures and learn all about them, you will have the chance to
optionally enter the Chephren Pyramid, and the „Solar Boat‟ Museum (additional
entrance fees). Later drive to a selected restaurant to enjoy lunch, and then
onto the ancient capital of Memphis with its large statues, followed by a visit
to the very impressive Step Pyramids at Sakkara, which are actually older than
the Giza Pyramids. Before driving back to the hotel, you will have the
opportunity to indulge in shopping at selected stores with good value for the
money. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 6: CAIRO sightseeing
Morning drive to visit the Citadel with its huge and beautifully decorated
Mohamed Ali Mosque. On to the heart of the city, reaching the outstanding
Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, containing priceless treasures such as a wealth
of statues, artefacts, sarcophaguses, paintings, clothing, and ornaments, all
indicative of the great Ancient Egyptian civilization. In a separate chamber,
the „Mummies Room‟ (a separate fee applies), one gets the chance to see the
preserved remains of great pharaohs, high priests and other important figures.
After time for lunch at a selected restaurant, enjoy a visit at the Pharaonic
Village,
located on an island. This is an experience like no other. As you sail down its
canals, the sounds, the images and the surrounding structures make you feel as
if you are travelling back in time. Following this fun-filled time, drive back
to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: ALEXANDRIA
Early departure for the 3 hours drive to the beautiful coastal town of
Alexandria, known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”. Founded by Alexander the
Great, the city has been subjected to the influence of great civilizations,
resulting to its rich cosmopolitan aura. Driving along the long coastal road,
pass by the new impressive Library, then on to visit the lush gardens and
majestic palace at Montazah. After time for lunch at a selected restaurant,
drive through the colorful busy streets of the old part of town, to visit the
very interesting Catacombs at Kom El Shogafa- hiding place and burial grounds of
the early Christians. Following a short visit to the Fortress dominating the
waters near the old port, it is time to start our way back to Cairo. Evening
arrival at the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: DEPARTURE
Depart from the hotel and drive to the Cairo international airport, where our
representative will assist you to timely check-in for your departing flight.
Program can be modified and/or
extended, however cruise embarkation at Luxor must be either on a Monday, or
Tuesday, or Saturday.
