Itinerary
Day 1, Thu. ARRIVE LAS
VEGAS.
Welcome to Las Vegas! Transfer on your own to Caesar’s Palace and check in. The
hotel is located in the heart of the famous “Strip," with easy access to all the
mega-casinos and theme parks. You might plan to arrive early, to explore, try
your hand at the tables, or take in a show. This evening join your tour director
for a Welcome Reception. (R)
Day 2, Fri. LAS VEGAS
/ SEDONA.
Journey today from the fast-paced environment of Las Vegas through the desert
landscapes of Nevada and Arizona to Sedona, famous for its spectacular red-rock
surroundings. Your resort hotel is nestled on the banks of famed Oak Creek and
surrounded by 22 acres of lush landscaping, tranquil ponds, cool streams, green
willows and pines. (B,D)
Day 3, Sat. SEDONA /
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK.
This morning relax and enjoy the ambience of your elegant resort. Then, an
included Pink Jeep Tour, hosted by a safe and knowledgeable driver/guide, shows
you the natural and geological history of this magnificent landscape. After
lunch in Sedona, pass through Oak Creek Canyon, rated as one of the ten most
scenic drives in the U.S. Late this afternoon, you arrive at the South Rim of
the dramatic Grand Canyon. Perhaps you may want to join in the optional
helicopter flightseeing. (B,D)
Day 4, Sun. GRAND
CANYON / MONUMENT VALLEY.
A leisurely start this morning provides ample time to enjoy outstanding views
from the edge of the Canyon. After several photo stops along the rim, continue
into Navajo and Hopi Indian Country. This evening, secluded Gouldings Lodge and
Trading Post offers a rare chance to appreciate the “land of time and room
enough” as only natives have for centuries. The lodge offers expansive views
over Monument Valley, with its awesome monoliths of stone. (B,D)
Day 5, Mon. MONUMENT
VALLEY / LAKE POWELL.
In the cool hours of morning, set off with a Navajo guide in a comfortable
all-terrain vehicle. Study the grand formations of Monument Valley and take time
to visit a Navajo Hogan. This afternoon presents an exciting option for a
“flightseeing”* trip to tonight's destination, the town of Page on the shores of
Lake Powell. If you prefer to travel overland, you will drive by motorcoach.
Your overnight destination, Wahweap Resort, features excellent resort amenities
and sweeping views over Lake Powell. (B,D)
Day 6, Tue. LAKE
POWELL.
One spectacular area of the desert Southwest is accessible only by water, and
you will see it today with a leisurely boat cruise on Lake Powell. Photograph
the fascinating scenes created by the sharply eroded canyon walls before
returning to your resort for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure to explore on
your own. Endless possibilities await, including swimming in the lake, picnic
excursions and guided hikes; float trips, fishing, kayaking, and self-drive
motorboat tours. (B,D)
Day 7, Wed. LAKE
POWELL / BRYCE NATIONAL PARK.
A day of rich contrasts leads you to Bryce Canyon National Park. The slow
erosion of ages has created fantastically sculptured rock formations resembling
castle towers and cathedral spires. The natural amphitheatres and canyons glow
with different lights throughout the day. Watch too for many wild animals and
wildflowers common to the area. (B,D)
Day 8, Thu. ZION
NATIONAL PARK.
After a leisurely morning, descend into half-mile deep Zion National Park. This
awe-inspiring area was named by Mormon pioneers who were spiritually moved by
the fabulous rock formations. Colorful sandstone walls rise thousands of feet
above the lush greenery of the canyon floor. Tonight at Zion Lodge, you are the
guest of your Tour Director at the Farewell Dinner. Later, gaze in all
directions at these magnificent stone walls before turning in for the night. (B,D)
Day 9, Fri. ZION / LAS
VEGAS.
After a mid-morning departure, you stop in Saint George to view one of the first
Mormon temples in Utah. Cross into the state of Nevada, and return to Las Vegas
International Airport for your flight home. Or, you may wish to extend your stay
here in lively Las Vegas and catch a famous show. Your post night hotel is
Caesar’s Palace where Celine Dion is performing. (B)
