1. Arrive Calgary
Tour begins: The Fairmont Palliser at 6:30 PM. The Fairmont
Palliser is centrally located in the heart of downtown Calgary. The
present-day city recalls its early pioneering days and the
20th-century oil booms. Join us at 6:30 PM for a welcome reception and
dinner. Meals D
2. Glacier National Park
Travel south through the Peigan Reserve to Waterton Lakes
National Park. Enjoy lunch overlooking Waterton Lake before traveling
across the border to Montana and Glacier National Park. The isolated
location of the park, which means fewer visitors during the brief
summer season, makes it a haven for some of the world's endangered
species including the gray wolf and the grizzly bear. Preservation
efforts are ongoing to maintain the park's sheltered habitats.
Accommodations within Glacier National Park this evening are rustic.
Meals BLD
3. "Going-To-The-Sun" Road
Enjoy a morning cruise on the lake amidst mountains that rise above
you. Conditions permitting, take a journey over the spectacular
"Going-to-the-Sun" road aboard restored 1930's Red "Jammer" Buses that
harken back to a bygone era. Skirt the shores of St. Mary's Lake, then
cross the Continental Divide over Logan Pass, past brilliant floral
displays of heather and glacier lilies. View precipitous peaks,
knife-edged ridges and alpine glaciers before arriving at Lake
McDonald. Meals BL
4. Kootenay National Park
Head north through British Columbia along the western slope of the
Canadian Rockies, into the heart of Canada's great timberlands, and
Kootenay National Park; see the bright red walls of Sinclair Canyon
and
travel through Radium Hot Springs. Arrive at Lake Louise, where
Victoria Glacier glistens in the waters of the lake. Meals BLD
5. Icefields Parkway / Jasper
Enjoy time at leisure this morning for nature walks, swimming or
photographing some of the world's most breathtaking scenery. Travel
along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper National Park. The highway
commands a panoramic view of mountains, waterfalls, glaciers and
snowfields. En route you may see moose, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain
goats, and bear. Your home for the next two nights is Fairmont Jasper
Park Lodge, located right in the heart of Jasper. Meals BLD
6. Explore Jasper National Park
Today is spent at your leisure. Many optional activities are
available, such as hiking, trail riding, golf or white-water rafting.
Located at the junction of the Athabasca and Miette River Valleys,
lovely Jasper is surrounded by spectacular mountain vistas. Fairmont
Jasper Park Lodge features guest rooms in log cabins and cedar chalets
that are set on 900 acres connected by picturesque pathways. Meals

7. Icefields Parkway / Banff
Travel along the Icefields Parkway on a journey southward to the
village of Banff. Take a ride in a specially constructed glacier
vehicle, weather permitting, along the unique surface of the
mighty Athabasca Glacier. This ice mass spawns a host of rivers that
flow into the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. Arrive in Banff for
two nights. Meals BLD
8. Banff National Park
Banff's main thoroughfare is cut off at one end by a mountainous rock
wall and at the other end by a rock garden; the entire day is free to
explore. The scenery is so majestic that golfers often comment that it
interferes with their concentration! Fairmont Banff Springs offers a
full range of resort facilities, including a world-class spa and golf.
Meals BD

** Glacier National Park is one of the
most scenic but remote National Parks in North America. Lake
McDonald Lodge and Many Glacier Hotel, the best hotels located
inside the park, are concessioned by the National Park Service and
are only open three months each year. Understand that the service
staff are part-time and relatively inexperienced. Also, with a
short season, it is economically difficult for these hotels to
improve their facilities. Thus, these hotels will not compare to
what one may find elsewhere. We expect you will find the scenery
and majesty of the park well worth visiting despite the marginal
accommodations and service.
