1. Arrive Boston ![]() Tour begins: Sheraton Boston at 8:30 AM. Welcome to an extraordinary one-week journey through the classic coastal landscapes of New England! Upon your arrival, travel to Plymouth, where the pilgrims first stepped ashore in 1620. Visit Plimoth Plantation, a restoration depicting the times, lifestyle, and crafts of 17th-century Plymouth, and see the famed Plymouth Rock. Travel across Cape Cod Canal for lunch on Falmouth Harbor prior to a ferry journey to the historic – and fashionable – island of Martha's Vineyard. Enjoy two nights in Edgartown, for centuries one of the most important whaling centers in New England, featuring old narrow streets and historic stately homes. Meals LD 2. Exploring the Vineyard Much of Martha's Vineyard remains exactly as it was when the first European settlers arrived in the early 17th century. The island's resident population includes writers, artists, entertainers, lobstermen and fishermen who have a love affair with wind, waves, and privacy. This morning's sightseeing includes the towns of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, salt sea marshes, beautiful sweeping beaches, and picturesque yacht harbors. The afternoon is spent at your leisure – enjoy the beach, play tennis, or relax amidst the rambling elegance of your charming hotel. Meals BD 3. Nantucket / Brewster Depart Martha's Vineyard this morning for a 15-minute flight to scenic Nantucket Island, the "far away island." Surrounded by the warm clear waters of the Atlantic, Nantucket is a community whose original colonial New England atmosphere is virtually unchanged; over 300 years of history, art, architecture and legend reflect the long-past, but never-forgotten, whaling era. Take a sightseeing journey around the island, with time for lunch and browsing before returning to the Cape Cod mainland via passenger ferry. Arrive in the town of Brewster for a two-night stay at an oceanfront resort. Meals BD 4. Provincetown / Whale Watch Travel to Provincetown along one of the most scenic parts of Cape Cod; visit the Cape Cod National Seashore and learn about the flora and fauna of this beautiful string of beaches. The waters near Provincetown host one of New England's largest whale populations; this afternoon take a guided whale-watching cruise to view these fascinating mammals in their natural habitat, weather permitting. Return to Brewster for dinner. Meals BD 5. Sandwich / Newport Journey to the charming village of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Incorporated in 1639, it is the oldest town on the Cape, well-known for its glassware. Visit the Heritage Plantation, where a collection of Americana ranges from early American art and artifacts to horticulture and military history – including a 1912 carousel! Arrive in Newport, Rhode Island, one of New England's most delightful coastal cities, and a long-time favored vacation site of affluent socialites and yachting enthusiasts. Buildings in Newport reflect different eras of prosperity, from the colonial days of the 17th and 18th centuries to masterpieces of the Gilded Age. Visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2004, as well as Touro Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in America.
