• 1. Embark New York City
Tour begins: Chelsea Piers, New York City.
Welcome to New York City, recently voted "#1 American City" by the readers of Travel + Leisure; the Nantucket Clipper is docked at Chelsea Piers along the Hudson River on the West Side of Manhattan. Leave your luggage on-board the ship anytime after 10:00 AM, and explore the many sights of the city at your leisure. Your Tauck Director welcomes you aboard the Nantucket Clipper between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. We invite you to join us for dinner aboard the ship, surrounded by the enchanting lights of the famous New York City skyline. Meals D

• 2. Experience New York CityNew York, Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard
Spend the day in magnificent New York City, where centuries of history, art and achievement await exploration. Your day begins with a literal "overview" of the city aboard an exhilarating helicopter adventure – it is a most memorable introduction! Join us for a sightseeing tour of Lower Manhattan, where cobbled streets and historic architecture still retain the flavor of "old New York;" your tour includes a view of the poignant legacy of Ground Zero. Continue on to Midtown Manhattan, and view famous sites such as Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The afternoon is free for you to pursue your special interests – the possibilities are endless! You may decide you want to visit one of New York's museums, perhaps the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Natural History Museum; take a stroll up the "Avenues;" or visit the sights of Upper Manhattan such as Central Park, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, or the Upper East and West Side neighborhoods. Nantucket Clipper begins her cruise to the islands of New England with a view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as she sails this evening into Long Island Sound. Meals BLD

• 3. Mystic Seaport / 1/2 Day at Sea
The tranquil waters of Long Island Sound flow between New York's Long Island and the coastal towns of Connecticut. Early risers have a chance to view Osprey, Great Blue Herons and the occasional Bald Eagle as the Nantucket Clipper navigates the picturesque Connecticut River. Disembark for a drive to Mystic, a prosperous 19th-century seaport and shipbuilding center. Visit fascinating Mystic Seaport, where New England's maritime past comes alive at historic homes, period shops, and exhibit galleries featuring scrimshaw and ship figureheads. Rejoin the Nantucket Clipper in New London and set sail for Newport. Spend a relaxing afternoon at sea as you sail from Long island Sound to Narragansett Bay. Meals BLD

• 4. Newport, Rhode Island
You'll have an opportunity to view from the sea magnificent estates of the "gilded age" as Nantucket Clipper sails to Newport for a journey along the spectacular "10-Mile Drive." See the estates by land on a guided tour that includes the interior of one of the more opulent, William Vanderbilt's Marble House; enjoy tea and scones on the lawn that is adjacent to the water. Spend time in the afternoon exploring Newport at your leisure, or join us for a historical walking tour and a sail on Newport Bay. Meals BLD

• 5. Discover Nantucket IslandNew York, Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard
Dock early today on the island of Nantucket, approximately 14 miles long, right in the heart of town. The town of Nantucket is much like an old-fashioned New England seaport, with eighteenth- and nineteenth-century homes lining its cobblestone streets, and white picket fences or wrought-iron fences protecting lovely gardens. Receive an introduction to the island's charms on a brief sightseeing tour, with the remainder of the morning free for shopping or exploring this former whaling capital. The Atlantic Ocean is always in sight, a picturesque image of a sapphire-blue sea lined with gray-shingled clapboard houses, inspiration for novelists and artists for centuries. Meals BLD

• 6. Explore Martha's Vineyard
Arrive this morning on the fashionable island of Martha's Vineyard, where historic Victorian, Federal and Greek Revival architecture accentuates the island's wind-swept, remote beauty. Whaling and farming were once the principal industries, with traces of both visible today. Gaze upon the colorful Victorian cottages in Oak Bluffs; explore the villages of Edgartown and Vineyard Haven; and view the picturesque Aquinnah lighthouse and lookout at Gay Head. This afternoon, it's your choice of optional activities; possibilities that can be arranged include golf, bicycle riding, horseback riding, a painting demonstration or perhaps just relaxing on one of Martha's Vineyard's fabulous beaches! Meals BLD

• 7. Block Island / Cruising
Nantucket Clipper sails from Martha's Vineyard for a visit to Block Island. Enjoy a look at classic old New England with white Victorian clapboard buildings and miles of beautiful coastline. Only 11 square miles, the island was settled in the 17th century, and is renowned for beautiful wind-swept moors and miles of remote beaches. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing at sea as you cruise the waters of Long Island Sound, where diverse wildlife and beautiful coastlines intertwine with the rich history these waters are known for. Activities aboard the ship include a lecture by on-board experts and a tour of the ship's galley. Join us tonight for a farewell dinner aboard Nantucket Clipper as you cruise to New York City. Meals

Smaller is better than bigger when cruising New England’s waterways. The Nantucket Clipper is an ideal vessel for exploring. With her shallow draft, she can sail into coves and harbors that are inaccessible to larger yachts, and can dock alongside many small towns and villages.

The spacious Observation Lounge serves as the main gathering place for informative briefings and social gatherings. A window-lined dining room overlooks the spectacular coastal scenery, and enhances the healthy regionally- influenced American food – every dish is individually prepared to order.

Experts are aboard Nantucket Clipper throughout your cruise, including historians or naturalists. They provide in-depth information on the cultural and natural history of the islands and coastal destinations visited each day, with informal talks that are given before and after your private shore excursions. Enjoy also the services of Tauck’s own destination specialists, your Tauck Directors, who are with you on land and at sea through your entire voyage. The All-American crew is known for their friendliness and attentive service, making every day of your cruise memorable as you discover the pleasures of the islands of Maritime New England!

Nantucket Clipper has a draft of eight feet, making her ideal for cruising the shallow waterways of New England. All staterooms are outside staterooms, affording excellent views of the shoreline. Double staterooms have two lower berths, private shower and toilet; hair dryers are provided. The differences in staterooms are size, layout, location, and window size. Staterooms in each category are virtually identical. Triples (2 lower and 1 upper berth) are available only in Categories 4, 5 and 6. Normal U.S. standard 110-volt electric current is provided in all staterooms, and electric shavers may be used.

Her three decks feature a large, window-lined lounge; teak sun deck; single-seating window-lined dining room; a small library offering a selection of books and games; and a gift shop with arts and crafts from Clipper's ports of call. Telephone and e-mail service (weather conditions permitting) are available at an additional cost; please note there is no elevator.
