1. Depart New York Tour departs: Hilton New York, New York City at 8:00 AM. Travel north from New York City to the magnificent Adirondack Mountains. Following lunch at Lake George, continue through Adirondack State Park to the lovely village of Lake Placid, home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Meals LD 2. Lake Placid This morning you have a choice; spend an entire day in this famous Olympic resort town or enjoy a morning of sightseeing. Take a boat ride on Lake Placid to see the lovely homes and estates; you'll also visit the 1980 Olympic ski jumping complex to see how the athletes train. The remainder of the day is on your own; activities feature boating, golf, or the amenities of the resort. Meals B 3. Lake Champlain / Shelburne Autumn foliage, in its full splendor, is a magnificent sight! Wind along the Ausable River through Wilmington Notch to Lake Champlain, and board a ferry for Vermont. Visit the Shelburne Museum, a remarkable 45-acre reconstruction of three centuries of early American life. Continue on to Stowe, Vermont, for the next two nights. Meals BLD 4. Stowe / Trapp Family Lodge Enjoy the serenity of Vermont life; a morning tour introduces you to this picturesque area. Lunch is at the famous Trapp Family Lodge; discover the charms of Stowe, which might include a factory tour of the world-famous Ben and Jerry's, a walk in town to enjoy the charming ambiance, or a visit to the resort's award-winning spa. Meals BLD 5. Vermont / New Hampshire Traverse winding roads to Montpelier, where Vermont's Capitol stands framed against the hills, and continue to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The foliage takes on a most beautiful hue as you climb to Franconia Notch! Following lunch at a quaint inn, travel along the Kancamagus Scenic Byway to North Conway for one night. Meals BLD 6. Maine's Rocky Coast Descend from New Hampshire's lovely White Mountains to the pine forests of western Maine. Arrive in the "Forest City" of Portland, where you learn about Maine's important cultural icon, the "lobsta." Travel to the picturesque seaport town of Boothbay Harbor – your hotel exudes New England charm as it graciously overlooks the ocean vistas of Boothbay Harbor. Meals BLD 7. Kennebunkport / Boston Journey south to Kennebunkport; stroll the narrow streets of this historic village; from Walker Point you'll be able to view former President George Bush's home. Journey to historic Portsmouth, New Hampshire, whose architecture reflects the grandeur of its 18th-century maritime prominence. Wind along the New England coastline into the state of Massachusetts, arriving at your hotel in the heart of Boston for two nights. Meals BD 8. Discover Historic Boston ![]() As one of the nation's oldest cities, Boston's well-preserved architectural reminders of its heritage are compelling. City sightseeing is an excellent orientation to the many attractions of Boston; the afternoon is at your leisure to explore what interests you most. Landmark sites of the city might include Quincy Market Place, Faneuil Hall, the Charles Street antique shops, Boston Common, and famed museums, all of which are centrally located. Meals B 9. Plimoth Plantation South of Boston lies the town of Plymouth; visit Plimoth Plantation, an authentically detailed restoration depicting life in the 17th century. View historic Plymouth Rock before traveling across the Cape Cod Canal to Old Cape Cod and the town of Sandwich; arrive later today in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island, for the next two nights. Meals BL 10. Newport / Ten-Mile Drive When the sun's up, it will shine on your yachting cap and bounce off your binoculars as you explore America's yachting capital! Travel Newport's famed "10-Mile Drive" this morning, viewing a myriad of exquisite estates; visit "The Breakers," the most palatial of them all. Built in 1890, it was inspired by French and Italian design influences of the period. See Newport's harbor and Bowen's Wharf; the afternoon is free for you to explore your interests. End the day with a memorable farewell dinner in Newport. Meals BD 11. Mystic / Journey Home Visit Mystic Seaport, an acclaimed "living" museum depicting 19th-century life in coastal New England. Step aboard whaling ships that once braved oceans in the great "Age of Sail;" the Seaport also includes exhibits featuring ship models, scrimshaw and figureheads from the whaling era of the previous century. Tour ends: LaGuardia Airport at 4:00 PM; Hilton New York at 5:00 PM (traffic permitting). A shuttle bus to JFK Airport departs LaGuardia Airport every half hour.
