1. Arrive Phoenix
Tour departs: Phoenix Airport at 1:00 PM.
Visit the acclaimed Heard Museum on your way to Sedona; it is a perfect introduction to the myriad of cultures you will discover this week. We invite you to join us this evening for a welcome reception and dinner at your resort hotel, nestled amidst the red-rock beauty of majestic Oak Creek Canyon. Meals D

2. Jeep Tour or Cattle Drive

Meet your Tauck Director after breakfast to review your choices throughout this week in the Southwest! Begin the day with a trolley tour through Sedona to discover a rich legacy of history, geology, flora and fauna. Afternoon choices feature a “Pink Jeep Tour” along the base of the canyonlands, or a real western cattle drive on horseback. Everyone enjoys a “cowboy cookout” under the stars tonight at the 44,000-acre M Diamond Ranch, a working cattle ranch where you learn about modern ranching and ranch management.

3. Artist’s Studio or Hopi Ruins

You have a choice of activities this morning; visit the private studio of a local artist, viewing various stages of the artistic process, or explore ancient ruins of one of the oldest cultures in North America with a Hopi guide. Enjoy time at leisure at the resort this afternoon, or visit the “ghost town” of Jerome , a former gold mining town with a Victorian air.

4. Rail Journey / Canyon Dave

From the vantage point of a vintage train car, travel aboard Grand Canyon Railway from the historic town of Williams to one of America’s greatest natural wonders. Witness the desert turn to prairie, and the prairie turn to pine; mule-deer, elk and antelope abound; upon arrival, enjoy lunch overlooking the canyon. One of the best introductions to Grand Canyon National Park is a historic walking tour with “Canyon Dave,” former curator of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum; explore the mysteries of ancient fossils, wildlife and cultural ruins. Enjoy a choice of dining tonight.

5. Choice in the Grand Canyon

A selection of activities today focuses on life, past and present, in the Grand Canyon. Join a local expert on a historic walking tour of Grand Canyon Village this morning to learn about the fascinating geologic and ecologic forces at work; or join your Tauck Director on a hike through Bright Angel Trail for first-hand examination of rock formations, plants and animal life. Spend the afternoon helping park staff with a revegetation project or explore nearby ancient ruins with a Native American guide. Dine at your leisure this evening in Grand Canyon Village.

A morning visit to Hoover Dam, reveals the mighty force of electric power. We invite you to join us this evening for a farewell reception and dinner.
